Boanerges Deaf Initiative is a not for profit registered organization which was established to provide basic services to the deaf people of Uganda. Deaf people in Uganda are very deprived from their rights due to the negative attitude the hearing people have towards them. They are called Kasiru which means a fool or stupid. Many deaf people have for a long time been victims of many injustices such as rape,torture, mob justice, Along with other tragedies. A barrier between the deaf and the hearing have exited for a very long time, Deaf people are also known as curses, sinners, taboos, wasted people, a people with out use, and out casts.
Educating a deaf child is always seen a as a waste of money, time, and resources. Many families fear to show their deaf children in public. Some children Deaf are hidden in houses suffering Isolation.
